I was drawn to the Abó Ruins in New Mexico for the way morning light touches the ancient walls and the quiet sense of history in the landscape—from the Tompiro-speaking Pueblo people to the later Spanish mission. In First Light on the Pueblo, I wanted to convey that layered history and the calm presence the ruins hold in the early light.
